Provisional Licence

Requirements for a Provisional Licence

To legally ride a motorcycle on the road you must

  • Be at least 17 or older or 16 for a mope
  • Have a driving licence which allows you to ride motorcycles (category A)

A motorcycle provisional licence can take the following guises:

  • A provisional driving licence with motorcycle entitlement
  • Full car licence. This automatically provides provisional motorcycle entitlement
  • Full motorcycle licence
  • Full moped licence. if you're 17 years or over

A Provisional Bike Licence allows you to ride a motorcycle up to 125cc with a max. power output of 11kw / 14.6bhp
